Logs should be pre cut to length (21ft Max)
Logs need to be limbed of all branches and stubs
They will then need to be stacked on some sort of dunnage, small logs or 4x4 & will also need to be parallel to the road or area the the sawmill will be set up.
Please inform us if the trees came from an old fence line or if you suspect we might find metal as there is an additional blade charge if we hit metal objects in the log & damage the blade.
Our per board foot pricing does not include stacking of lumber but this can be added if desired.
Finished wood needs to kept off the ground and on dunnage and each layer needs to be separated with stickers (1''x1''x4' slats of wood) this will help in drying the finished product and keep bugs and moisture out. If you do not have any stickers, I can supply you with stickers upon request. The lumber will need to be covered with a tarp that allows airflow around the wood to prevent trapped moisture or stored in a covered shed.
When the job is complete, you will be left with finished lumber, a pile of sawdust, and the outer slabs from the logs and edging pieces, these can make very interesting crafts or make great firewood.
If you do not wish to keep or dispose of the edging pieces yourself this is something else we can assist with if you desire.
